Mexico City

Viva México

Another megalopolis, bigger even than Buenos Aires

Arrived last night (23 August) and we are starting a two-year stay in México City. It was the easiest (and shortest at a little over 4 hours) flight to a new post we’ve ever had. Usually we fly 10 to 12 hours, or in the case of South Africa, 18 hours. This was nice. Sophie was nice, too. She sat in her bag under the seat and did not make a peep the entire flight, even during the bumpy parts coming down into México City. Good little white cat.

She, Sophie, is not all that happy with our hotel room. It is the smallest space she has ever been put into, and it shows. Not a happy cat, even though it is a really nicehotel. She seems uninterested in the amenities, although she is curious about our butler (not kidding).

We are in this hotel temporarily because our apartment isn’t quite ready for occupancy. We may be in the hotel for two weeks. Ritzy hotels are nice places for a luxury weekend, but you really don’t want to spend two weeks in a hotel room … with your cat, no matter how many stars it has.

This is our view for the time being.

So, that’s about it. We’re in Mexico. Keep in touch.

PS: Maybe one of these days I will be a writer again. I’ll let you know if that happens.
